Suggestion about our Forum

The forum is very good in general. But one thing in rule and regulation, that "politics, sex, religion are prohibited" is questionable.

(1) "politics, sex and religion" ....should they be in same group?
(2) Do you think some of them should be expressed freely?

We have edited our rules and regulations terms. We hope we will improve our technological abilites by exchanging knowledge among us (like saying some good links for study) and we also hope we will enjoy our long-life forum.

Many Thank! I really appreciate it. It is a great idea. Yes, I also would like to do the complete address book (at least name and email) of our MIT students. Once we can make e-data, it is easy to find by name or by other thing. Now, we have got some information and we can contact each other in our forum. But we do need the helps of all of our brothers and sisters (e.g. to register in their real name). We cannot do alone, it can be done only with the spirits of the all MITs!

How can we type in Myanmar fonts in this forum? As we are being a Myanmar, discussing in myanmar language will more satisfy our spirits and we can use proudly our own character, not like Malay and others ! Moreover Myanmar Uni Code is not accepted as universal so some forums can't display uni code fonts. just advice !

Hi Admin,
Do you have any program to improve the knowledges from Myanmar like Books Library? Now our MIT library has rare advance Engineering books and simulation facilities. I would like to advise admin to join other members from Myanmar and estiblish a library in Mandalay or Yangon. If fund is riquired we can contribute as much as we effort. I also want to donate some books required for modern Engineering techniques even I don't have these books currently. Before I came to SG, I saw one library named ICEYouth. This one is estiblished by some guys trying to go aboard (just finished Matriculation). I thinks this kind of library can cover everyones from engineering fields trying to go aboard with skill and knowledges, not only for MIT students also our juniors who qualified to enter MIT but can't effort bez of no more MIT.

Hi kyaw gyi, your idea is very good. I am totally accept your idea.
I also have an idea to setup and e library with ftp server.But unfortunately ftp access is banned in Burma. But why don't we start setting up ftp server and categorize the various subject and upload of our ebook,chm,pdf,white paper.
It will be first step to built our MIT library in Burma.

It is very good if we can share our e-books first and then Library. My server is PIII with 80GB HD which has 10GB free space for now. If FTP is banned, HTTP is also OK. I think, we already have a EBook forum room and most of the forum members can access internet easily. If every body can share their ebooks a little each (may be in their google pages or by using their own PC or just links to existing pages), it will be better.

I am very sad for I will not be able to access to your FTP e-books server. As you know, our ISP's already banned FTP port. As much as I know, it is possible to request for FTP port to them but it can not be for a internet user who use it from cyber cafes. If you have any plan to develop that project, I would like to request all of you to think about internet users from myanmar, including me.

I tried to setup a HTTP server lastnight by using a third party software. It's successful. But so far as i know, Our ISPs (Starhub, Singnet, Pacific Net, Qala......) block ports 80 and 25 to residential users. So, we can't use the standard port for web hosting from our home.The only choice is using the non-standard ports. But when i asked one of my friends from Myanmar trying to access my server, he wasn't successful, Access is Denied. It's becoz of Myanmar Teleport's internet access policy. They could block non-standard ports and free DNS services such as Dyndns, No-Ip.biz.
So, It's necessary to sign up a Static IP address and Domain Name.
Hope it'll be the first step.

You are right! I think port 80 and 25 has been blocked recently by starhub but they don't block port 21 for FTP. Browser such as Mozilla doesn't allow to see the pages with non-standard port, but I found port 8080 works well in both IE and mozilla. Could your web page be seen in SG? If your web server has firewall turned on, you need to change the policy. And if it is behind the router you need to make port forwarding. Thank and appreciate you for your effort in developing E-Library.
